The interns spoke to the Union City Council, hoping to gain official city support for the tribe’s legislation. The council ended up voting unanimously in favor of the bill, applauding the interns for their passionate work in local advocacy.

The IJC met with AOC’s former chief of staff and congressional candidate Saikat Chakrabarti. Saikat gave our interns important advice, while applauding the team’s work with the Muwkema Ohlone tribe. Saikat is looking to dethrone Nancy Pelosi in the upcoming elections, making the Muwekma Ohlone one of his main focus areas.

Received environmental grant worth $500,000 to develop air quality systems to protect tribal elders on Muwekma Land. Created 25 paid internships in partnership with ClimateClean Technologies.
